This morning we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Nazarene denomination. Roy and I traveled to Seattle to join our friends, the Chambers at their church in Seattle's Highland Park. It was wonderful to hear David preach a sermon on being a Holy People (1 Peter 2:9-10). The call to holy living, living a life set apart for G-d, has resounded from Nazarene pulpits for the last 100 years. Praise G-d for a church, a (huge!) community of believers around the world, that could celebrate as ONE all those things that G-d has done for us in the past...and anticipate together all He will do in us and through us in the future.
Tonight we visited our friends at missioDei in Bellingham. In contrast to the morning's celebration of a century of ministry, we were able to share community with a very young church who is still seeking to understand and pursue all that G-d is calling them to. Sitting with the pastor and getting to hear a bit of his heart, we are encouraged and blessed to pray with him and for him for this ministry that G-d is calling him to. My heart is encouraged because of the time we spent at the Parks' home tonight.
May G-d continue to challenge us to draw closer to Him, to know Him more, and to share Him more boldly...and more frequently.
